Spirituality is a matter of discernment and concentration.
The essence of spiritual life is to discern between the real and the unreal and focus the attention on the real!
Discernment is developed by purification of the mind, attend in Satsang, hear, read and reflect on the teachings of enlightened masters (on the nature of the true Self, the mind and ego), self-observation, attention and self inquiry.
Concentration is a matter of practice, but a high level of concentration which leads to deep meditation is possible when we have a pure-sattvic, detached and dispassionate mind.
