EGO ISN’T A THOUGHT OR THE IDENTIFICATION WITH THOUGHTS ~ Atman Nityananda,

EGO ISN’T A THOUGHT OR THE IDENTIFICATION WITH THOUGHTS

The ego is neither a thought nor the identification with thoughts but it is what identifies with them and uses the thoughts and imagination to express itself.

The ego is crystallized energy in the astral body. The egoic energy is essentially the desire and its modifications such as greed, avarice, gluttony jealousy, impatience, the likes and dislikes and the negative emotions.

The ego of gluttony for example uses the thoughts and imagination to satisfy its lust for pleasure through the food. Until your desire to be fulfilled, the desire assumes also the form of impatience, anxiety and uneasiness and if something prevents you to get what you want the desire modifies as anger. If the food is not up to ego’s expectations and imagination then desire assumes the form of dislike and dissatisfaction. The same happens with all others desires for pleasure, fame, recognition, power, comfort and possessions etc.

This mechanism of ego's identification with thoughts and imaginations is unconscious, compulsive and mechanical. Its function doesn't depend on our will and reason. Ego uses the thoughts and the intelligence of the intellect in order to find the ways and the means to fulfill its desires.

Of course we can get rid little by little of this mechanism by developing self-awareness, dispassionate auto-observation, by enquiring the nature of ego and desire, how happens the identification, by finding ways to stop identification and develop self-awareness, to increase the sattva guna and reduce the tamas ans rajas gunas from the mind etc.

The thoughts may be charged up with positive energy (sattva, love...) when we are tuned with our true nature and our mind functions in the sattva guna mode and on the contrary with negative energy when we are identified with the ego and the thoughts are expressed by some egoic tendency, for example from jealousy.

Thoughts are also energy and have the power to create realities, but only when they are fertilized by emotion and we contemplate them from a higher state of consciousness. That’s why when we do positive affirmations (I am peace, for example) and contemplate in these thoughts we must feel what we say and be conscious of the center of our existence. Otherwise they will remain on the mental level.

MORNING AND EVENING PRACTICE IS A NECESSITY ~ Atman Nityananda

MORNING AND EVENING PRACTICE IS A NECESSITY IN ORDER TO LIVE CONSCIOUSLY DURING THE DAY

Due to sleep the mind in the morning is in a tamasic state and gradually enters in a rajasic state. Both keep the mind in an hypnotic state of identification.

If we don't begin our day with prayer, pranayama, japa mantra and meditation we cannot enter in the sattva mental state and live during the day alert and awake of our presence. Without the morning practice we are going to pass our day in a day dreaming state identified with the mental and emotional patterns and the external incidents.

Similarly if you don´t practice in the evening before you go to sleep the mind will elaborate all mundane experiences. Thus from the day dreaming you will fall to sleep dreaming.

Before go to sleep focus your mind on divine thoughts and contemplate on God in order the mind to continue subconsciously during sleep to elaborate with these sublime thoughts.

If you want to elevate your mind and live consciously instead of a mechanical life then the morning and evening practice are a sine qua non.

If you want to go beyond your mind and realize your true nature you must practice not only morning and evening but during all day. Then and only then success is possible!

What do you really want? ~ Atman Nityananda

         What do you really want?

You want pleasure or love? You want pleasure or peace? You want pleasure or infinite bliss?

To have both at once is impossible. Pleasures are of the mind and peace of our Soul. The pleasures come from outside and peace, love and bliss from within. If we focus our attention and mind within we enjoy the peace and bliss of our Soul or Atman. If we focus our attention and mind through the senses outwards we experience pleasure pain, and suffering (which is inevitable)

If you want to experience the sensory pleasures of this worldly life, you have to accept pain, disease and suffering that accompany them undoubtedly.

If you think that you can have pleasures and avoid suffering you got it wrong. This is just an imagination of the egoic mind that its nature essentially lust and desire. The lusty mind cannot and doesn’t want to see things as they are; it just wants to continue enjoying pleasures.

Truly all suffering not only is caused by desire but is a modification of desire itself. The desire itself is transformed into anger, fear, jealousy, greed, fear, disappointment, depression and all other painful emotions that cause suffering in us. In addition in order to satisfy our desires for pleasure, money, fame etc. we did (almost all) or we will do stupid actions that are harmful for us and others as well. Many times also we misuse or overuse our body, energy, mind and senses causing unbalances and health problems.

I know that you could tell me 'I have control over my desires'. I say that this may be true at the moment (although I'm sure you have already suffered in various ways).

But life is dynamic not static. We are all moving: upwards or downwards. Then undoubtedly soon or later your state of consciousness will be better or worse depending on how you live. The more we focus to fulfill our desires the more our mind becomes extroverted, distracted and dense, the more we move away from our true nature and the more we will suffer.

On the contrary the more we eliminate the egoic mind and its desires the more transparent, luminous becomes the mind and the more closely we come to our true nature. And since our true Self (Atman, Consciousness) is the source of peace, bliss and freedom without limits the more we abide in It, the more the mind becomes pure and free from desires and the more we experiencde eternal bliss and peace that are beyond the realm of pleasure and pain.

Since we cannot have both, you have to choose between sensory pleasures and the joy of Being that is beyond suffering, birth and death. You have to choose, and live according you decision! What do you really want more?

Jesus said it this way: You cannot serve God and mammon (money) at the same time.¨ Matthew 6:24

Peace, Love and Light
