The recipe for true and lasting happiness - Atman Nitynanda

The recipe for true and lasting happiness

The recipe is very simple. A pure-sattvic mind that dwells in the heart where our divine essence constantly shines.

Our essence is timeless, always present here and now, immortal, imperishable, immutable, peaceful, free, full and blissful.

When our mind is immersed in it we experience the bliss that has no limits or dependencies. That is why no one and nothing in the world can steal or take away this happiness.

The thief of happiness is the lower rajasotamsic ego that is ingrained in our psyche. This multifaceted psychological thief creates a veil and prevents us from experiencing and radiating the undying bliss of the Soul.

That is why when we free our mind from the ego, this veil dissipates, the mind becomes pure-sattvic, diaphanous, transparent and lucid, and thus we fully and interruptedly experience and radiate the perrene bliss.

Feeling comfortable with uncomfortable emotions!

Feeling comfortable with uncomfortable emotions!

Knowledge, motivation, commitment, patience, perseverance and a variety of abilities are necessary to deal with low frequency emotions and release them.

The ability to feel comfortable is one of the important ones to release low frequency emotions, to let them go and in course of time dissolve them.

A very effective way to cultivate this ability is to contemplate the following questions.

Ask your self, every time a difficult emotion is hooked in you:

Could I let it be and be with it fully?
Could I let it be as it is?
Could I let it be as it is without being bothered by it?
Could I feel it fully?
Could I feel love for it?
Could I live with it for my whole life without being annoyed by it?
Could I let it be here for ever without feeling bad?
What is my benefit by resisting, complaining, feeling annoyed or angy with it?
Does this feeling prevents me of being aware that I am?
Does this feeling affects or disturbs the peace and the wellness I am?
Does this emotion prevents me of experiencing the peace and the wellness I am?

To cultivate acceptance and feel comfortable  you can practise some or all of those enquires until to find those that work better for you. Then focus on practicing them.

However to attend our emotions consciously and feel comfortable with them is fundamental being as deeply as possible in contact with the silent space within and not identify with them.

We can use a variety of methods to deepen in the silence within the very moment an emotion is manifested.

Nevertheless, our capacity to abide firmly and deeply in the silent presence within develops by:

1. practicing regularly twice a day (morning and evening) meditation and/or Self-enquiry,
2. practicing Mindfulness and Self-awareness throughout the day,
3. purifying our mind and heart
4. developing the sattvic qualities such as love, compassion, tolerance, self-estime, acceptance, kindness, patience, discernment, detachment, clarity.
4. increasing systematically the sattva quality in the mind through various practices
5. living a sattvic life-style.

Om! Mindfulness and Self-awareness ¬ Atman Nityananda

 Mindfulness and Self-awareness

Mindfulness is paying attention to and being aware of what is happening every moment while Self-awareness is being aware of what we really Are by paying attention to the silence within!

''To what is happening'', refers to the sensory inputs or impressions (including the body, since it is also an object of perception) and our psychological processes and expressions (vital, emotional, mental, intellectual).

''Self-awareness'' refers to the awareness of our true Self, the silent space of Consciousness which is our essential nature and our true identity!

To be mindful to what we perceive, what we do and what is manifesting in our heart and mind is fundamental to free ourselves from the psychological conditioning.

However, mindfulness is not the end but a stepping stone that enables us live consciously aware of our true Self. To experience the eternal freedom, fullness, peace and bliss we Are.

By paying fully attention to what we are not, that is to sensory inputs and our psychological formations we can get in touch with our divine essence which is the always silent present substratum of all our experiences.

By being attentive we can gradually be more and more aware of the psychological expressions and the processes of identification, projection and superimposition and acquire a distance from them.  The more we become able avoid identifying with the mental and emotional expressions the more they lose power over us and the more apparent becomes the silent space of Consciousness. As a consequence, it becomes easier for us to be aware of the silence within and prevent identifying with the subconscious patterns and programming. It is a virtues cycle which becomes stronger and stronger by practice.

However, we can directly become aware of the silent presence of Self (Consciousness) by directly focusing our attention on it utilizing a method such as Self-enquiry or the meditation 'I am'.

By being aware of the silence within we can be mindful to what is happening and by being mindful we can get and maintain consciously contact with the silent presence of the Self.

To live free from ego's conditioning and the peace and fullness of our essence we must diligently  practice mindfulness and Self-awareness  moment to moment throughout the day.
